Welcome! We are proud to be the premier University in Clayton County, Iowa, USA.  SNY MAGILL UNIVERSITY offers excellent graduate and undergraduate degrees, in both Fahrenheit and Celsius, for students of all ages.  We provide our students with a spectacular collegiate experience that includes interaction with outstanding faculty members, small class size, and hands-on experience with a lack of leadership.


This website will introduce you to the many facets of SNY MAGILL UNIVERSITY.  We hope that you enjoy the experience.

When you visit us you will find that our campus is nestled in a verdant valley in the part of Northeast Iowa that was unglaciated.  We are a part of the Town of McGregor, and one border of our campus is the mighty Mississippi River.  Our University gets its name from a tributary stream that meanders near our campus.  The original settlers of this area had Scottish backgrounds and took the Scottish word for creek, 'sny', and attached it to the name of the Magill family that lived along the stream.

SNY MAGILL UNIVERSITY was founded in response to a need on the part of the citizens of our surrounding area, as well as anyone else who is interested, for an opportunity through higher education to really understand the opportunities presented by a life of dissipation.

SMU seeks to impact the intellectual, cultural, technological and social development of a diverse student body.  We go out of our way, sometimes knowingly, to provide a learning experience to match the ability of those who seek our doors.  On our campus you will find students from all walks of life, some able to walk better than others, but all treated equally.

We are dedicated to maintaining our position as the Premier University of Clayton County.  Our long tradition of Excellence and the continued international recognition of our faculty for their mediocrity is evidence of this commitment.

Our motto is "Training Leadership for Yesterday" and our mascot is the Mississippi River Crayfish, who under pressure moves backward.
